Age: 28

Height: 6′ 1″

Weight: 185

Years as a vegan: 7

Why you became a vegan:  I became vegan after spending the majority of my childhood as a fisherman, hunter, and animal farmer.  My drive towards protecting these animals was and always has been stronger than my want to destroy them.  I decided in 2007 that I would not intentionally kill or harm another animal for the rest of my life.  Nor would I pay to have someone else do it for me.

History competing: I have been involved in fitness for 7 years now and began competing in CF in 2014.

What drives you to compete: I compete to protect farmed animals around the world and show that compassion is a sign of strength not weakness.

What do you see as the biggest advantages of being a vegan athlete:  The biggest advantage toward being a vegan athlete is that we compete with a purpose and passion that most of our competitors cannot fathom.

What types of supplements if any do you use?: I stick primarily with protein shakes and creatine monohydrate.

How would you describe your diet while preparing for a competition:  Strictly regimented and balanced.  If you spend the majority of your time physically training for a competition, you must put the same intensity into your meal preparation.  They go hand in hand.

Favorite food in your prep diet: Bananas and peanut butter.  This combination, when regulated, is a powerhouse of saturated fat and carbohydrates.

How would you describe your training for a competition:  When training for a competition, I focus all of my energy and attention to that event.  It doesn’t matter if it is the smallest or biggest competition of my life, I’m going to give it everything that I have.

Favorite exercises: Deadlift, Overhead Squat, Pull Ups, Burpees, Cleans, Front Squats

Strongest skills: Deadlift, Cleans, Pull Ups

How many hours a week do you spend training?: 18-21 hours

Today I am most proud of: I’m most proud to be a part of an ever growing vegan community that is striving toward making the world a more compassionate and harmonious place.
