So. Let’s talk about cardio, shall we? I struggle just like anyone else might with “enjoying’ cardio. I have tried many different styles of cardio/fat burning workouts, some are more effective than others and some really make me want to break things out of boredom and frustration! Luckily, I had an opportunity to learn how to teach full contact kickboxing conditioning which was a catalyst for me to enroll myself into Muay Thai/Kickboxing training at a fight gym to further my knowledge and skill level and make me a better trainer and I fell in LOVE!! This style of conditioning is something I like to use to shred while continuing to build lean mean muscle. It combines plyometric style workouts with basic strikes and kicks. If you are super bored with your current fitness routine or have hit a plateau or just looking for something new I highly recommend finding a dojo or fight gym to explore, take a class or two and see how you feel. It might be just what you’re looking for….not to mention…a great stress reliever. The Pit in Austin, TX has an amazing CrossPit conditioning program. This workout is adapted from one of their daily workouts.

Here is a quick MMA conditioning workout I did yesterday. I had a 12 hour workday and a tiny gym break/lunch to get in what I could. Equipment used: punching bag, jump rope, hand wraps for punches. You could modify if needed by shadow boxing vs hitting a bag.

50 Double Unders or 150 Single Jumps
200 Jab Cross Punch Combos
15 Burpees
200 Hook Punches
15 Burpees
200 Uppercuts
15 Burpees
50 Double Unders or 150 Single Jumps

Love and Peace,
